Jagdeep Dhankhar – India’s Vice President Making Waves
You know those rarest of moments in politics — when somebody says what everybody thinks? Yeah. And that’s sort of what went down recently with Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Vice President of India — generally a fairly quiet, behind-the-scenes type of position — has become the hottest name in Delhi. And honestly, I really wasn’t prepared for that.
Truly unfortunate. The Vice President’s chair carries a legacy of dignity, not submission. Watching him fold hands like that was a resignation of self-respect, long before the official one.#jagdeepdhankar #VicePrecidentpic.twitter.com/NkP75gpldt

What Sparked the Trend Around Jagdeep Dhankhar?
Now, here’s the thing… Jagdeep Dhankhar isn’t your typical VP.
And this week? He proved that again.
In a recent event, Dhankhar called out rising disruptions in Parliament—bluntly. Not in that safe, polished “netagiri” way. Nope. More like “this-is-getting-out-of-hand” real talk.
Honestly, that hit home. Because amidst all the usual noise, someone from inside the system pointing out the rot? That’s rare.
His speech triggered reactions across party lines. Some praised him. Some? Not so much. But he made headlines. Social media picked it up. YouTube thumbnails exploded.
And that’s when it started—the Dhankhar wave.
Who Is Jagdeep Dhankhar, Really?
If you only know him as “that Vice President guy,” you’re missing half the story.
Dhankhar’s journey? Kinda wild. He came from a small village in Rajasthan, climbed his way up through law and state politics, and somehow—without the usual dynasty tag—ended up one of the top constitutional voices in India.
He’s been a lawyer, governor, MP, and now… Vice President.
But it’s the way he doesn’t play safe that makes him different.
“I didn’t expect to find that here, but… he’s become the rebel inside the system.”
And I mean, isn’t that kinda refreshing?

Then Who Is the New Vice President of India in 2025?
As of July 21, 2025, Jagdeep Dhankhar—who had served as Vice President of India since August 11, 2022—submitted his resignation citing health reasons.
So, there’s currently no new Vice President officially appointed.
In the interim:
- Harivansh Narayan Singh, the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, is acting as the Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha during the vacancy.
- According to constitutional provisions and election rules, a new Vice President must be elected within 60 days, which means the election should take place by September 19, 2025.
So, to be clear: there’s no “new” Vice President yet—just an ongoing process. Once the NDA (led by the BJP) announces and elects someone, that’ll become India’s next VP.
Why This Matters More Than You Think
Look, Dhankhar getting a trending hashtag isn’t just gossip.
It says something deeper about what people are craving—authenticity, leadership, and, yes, someone who calls it like it is.
He’s not dancing to the tune. He’s making his own.
And in this age of viral outrage and political theatre, that actually stands out.
This could shift how VPs are seen. Less rubber stamp. More real power?
We’ll see.
What’s your take? Is Jagdeep Dhankhar the voice India needs—or just another moment in the trend cycle?
